The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lethal arrived in 2020 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. It enters the same hazard-evoking territory as Roja's Danger pour Homme, and the house doesn't pretend otherwise. The citrus opening is where it starts, the aromatic heart is where it earns its keep, and the leather-and-woods base is where the composition turns serious. Cumin and clove do most of the heavy lifting in the heart, flanked by tarragon and lavender that keep things from tipping into pure smoke. The whole thing is built as a concentrated extrait de parfum, and the strength of that formulation shows through from the first spray.
What makes Lethal's architecture worth a second look is the aromatic duality at its center. Tarragon and lavender share a composition that places both in the foreground, and the way they sit between the bright citrus opening and the smoky leather base gives the whole thing a hinge point. Cumin adds a savory edge that pushes the florals away from pretty and toward something with teeth. The result is a composition that reads as a single idea rather than a parade of notes.
The evolution
The opening is all business. Lemon and bergamot cut sharp, almost bracing, with galbanum adding a green, peppery edge that keeps the first impression from feeling polite. Tarragon arrives early, adding an herbal, slightly anise-tinged coolness that tempers the brightness without softening it. As the composition settles, it hands off to its heart, and that's where Lethal's character fully reveals itself. Lavender smooths everything out, but it's the cumin and clove that define this phase, warm and slightly dirty in a way that reads as confident rather than aggressive. Grasse jasmine and violet add a dusty floral weight underneath, and tonka bean starts pulling the whole thing toward something sweeter without ever fully committing. The rhubarb is a quiet surprise, a tart, almost fruity thread that keeps the heart from getting too heavy.
Cultural impact
Lethal operates in territory where leather-forward extraits and aromatic compositions intersect. The fragrance openly acknowledges its inspiration rather than hiding it, and that transparency has become part of its appeal. The Dua Brand's emphasis on concentrated formulations places Lethal in a category that prioritizes depth and longevity over mass-market accessibility. The composition leans into its identity as a spiced, smoky, leather-anchored extrait, and it doesn't soften itself for broader appeal.
