The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
#Ego arrived wearing a clear mission: revive the loud, self-assured spirit of a legendary 1990 men's classic. Leather, tobacco, mahogany, and spice arranged in a Woody Spicy architecture that doesn't apologize for its volume. The opening reads with confidence, a deliberate throwback to an era when men's fragrances spoke in chest voice, not aside. Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, and sandalwood build a woody foundation, while carnation, cinnamon, coriander, and ambrette seed weave through the composition with warmth and complexity. Vanilla settles into the base alongside ambrette seed, softening the resinous woods without tipping the balance toward anything sweet or timid.
What makes #Ego work is the density of its base. Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, and sandalwood stack under birch and tobacco leaf, creating a dry, resinous depth that anchors the entire composition. The carnation and cinnamon in the middle add a spicy, almost floral bitterness that prevents the wood from going flat, while also giving the leather a rougher, more textured character than it would have on its own. Coriander and ambrette seed lend a subtle sweat-skin warmth, the kind of human-skin radiance that keeps the composition from smelling like an accord list rather than a living scent.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes read bright and almost citrus, mandarin orange cutting through the heavier notes underneath like a match struck in a dark room. Coriander sharpens the edges, and there's a quick flash of something almost soapy before the composition decides what it actually is. By the one-hour mark, the leather arrives. Real leather, not the polished showroom kind, more like a vintage jacket that's absorbed years of wear. Tobacco leaf curls in alongside, clove and cinnamon warming the spine, and the Brazilian rosewood starts to ground everything. From the three-hour mark onward, this is where #Ego earns its reputation. The drydown is a dense thicket of mahogany, sandalwood, vanilla, and birch, smoky and slightly sweet, with ambrette seed lending a skin-warmth that makes the whole thing feel lived-in.
Cultural impact
#Ego wears like a callback to the era of bold, unapologetic men's fragrances, the kind that didn't ask permission to be noticed. The composition pulls in wearers who specifically want a tobacco-leather profile, the kind of scent that registers across a room before someone leans in close. Its strong projection and longevity have made it a go-to for cooler months and evening occasions, when the heavier woods and resins can fully express themselves without fighting summer heat.
