The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Booze & Honey arrived in 2022 from The Dua Brand, a house with a catalogue that spans woody, floral, gourmand, and oriental territory. This one lands squarely in the amber-spicy corner, a profile defined by warmth and the slow pull of resinous sweetness. The name tells you almost everything: the two things in the glass, warmth and indulgence, poured into one composition. No mystery, no metaphor. Just an honest proposition about what you'll smell like when you wear it. The opening is boozy in the truest sense, with whiskey and cognac notes meeting honey before the spice has even settled in, and the whole thing reads less like a constructed accord and more like a mood captured mid-evening.
The note list reads like a bartender's mood board. Whiskey and cognac share a base with honey and tonka bean, a four-note axis that does most of the structural work. Around them, cinnamon and coriander add the spark, rosemary and geranium keep things from sliding into pure dessert, and Turkish rose threads through the middle to stop the sweetness from becoming one-dimensional. The resin base built from labdanum, benzoin, and amber is what gives the composition its slow, lingering warmth, and it's the kind of accord that justifies the Extrait de Parfum concentration at work here.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to the spices. Cinnamon and coriander arrive sharp, almost aromatic, the way a candle suddenly lit in a dark room hits you before your eyes adjust. Then the whiskey and cognac surface, and the whole thing shifts from kitchen to bar. The honey doesn't show up immediately; it waits, then rolls in around the twenty-minute mark like something dissolving at the bottom of a glass. By the one-hour mark, the boozy top notes have receded and the honey-tonka-resin base is doing all the talking. What surprises most is how the rosemary and geranium never fully disappear. They keep the sweetness from tipping over, adding a green, almost herbal thread that runs underneath everything like a quiet argument.
Cultural impact
Booze & Honey sits comfortably in the amber-spicy category, a profile defined by warmth, resin, and the kind of sweetness that suggests a slow evening rather than a quick stop. Within The Dua Brand's own catalogue, it reads as a fragrance that commits to a single mood, following one thread from top to bottom without veering off course. The boozy accord, built on whiskey and cognac with honey and tonka at the base, gives it a recognizable character that anyone familiar with the genre will spot immediately, yet the execution feels deliberate rather than borrowed.
