The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ygritte launched in 2020 as part of Sucreabeille's Frozen Embers collection, a line of scents inspired by the world of Game of Thrones. The fragrance takes its name from the fierce character at the heart of that story, someone whose presence reshaped every scene she entered. Perfumer Andrea Fender built the composition around a single image: Egyptian musk drifting from the stall of an outdoor market on an overcast afternoon, with coconut milk bought from a nearby vendor hanging in the air around it. It's a scent rooted in that particular kind of stillness, the pause before a conversation that changes everything.
What makes Ygritte interesting is the tension between its floral heart and its musky foundation. The jasmine notes bring a creamy, almost tropical white-flower quality, the kind of soft, indolic sweetness that feels lived-in rather than delicate, while Egyptian musk grounds everything in something warmer and more animal. Coconut milk softens the transition between these poles, lending a milky sweetness that wraps the sharper edges of the musk in something gentler.
The evolution
The opening of Ygritte is all coconut milk and white florals, with jasmine doing much of the early work, giving the first impression a humid, slightly tropical cast that feels closer to a body lotion than a traditional perfume. It's soft, creamy, almost edible, the kind of scent that invites you to lean in rather than pull back. As the hours pass, the Egyptian musk starts asserting itself, pushing through the florals with a warm, ambered weight that gradually takes over the composition. The marigold emerges alongside it, adding a dried-floral, almost hay-like quality that keeps the musk from going too heavy, a bright counterpoint to all that density. The composition eventually settles into its groove, jasmine and musk intertwined in a way that feels inevitable, the coconut milk now reading as warmth rather than sweetness.
Cultural impact
Ygritte sits within Sucreabeille's Frozen Embers collection, a Game of Thrones-inspired series that lets wearers carry a piece of that fictional world with them. The scent leans into warmer, sunnier territory than what the brand is typically associated with, swapping darker, heavier compositions for something softer and more luminous. It reads as a love letter to a character who burns bright against the cold of her surroundings, and the juice itself mirrors that contrast.
