Why it exists.
The beginning
The name translates roughly: nine flowers of neroli. But the title is a bit of a wink. Pouchard doesn't work in single-note stories. Neuf Fleurs de Néroli draws on multiple facets of the bitter orange tree, pulling not only neroli from its blossoms but petitgrain from its leaves, then layering in iris, lavender, saffron, and amberwood for structure. Released in 2026 as part of the Parfum Intemporel collection, the fragrance treats neroli as a starting point rather than a destination. The composition runs on contrasts more than on a single focal point: the green sharpness of petitgrain against the soft powder of iris, the metallic cool of saffron against the warmth of amberwood.
What's interesting here is the use of Orcanox in the base, a synthetic ambergris material that gives the composition a saline, almost mineral warmth without tipping into animalic territory. Combined with amberwood and a saffron-iris heart, the neroli gets held in tension between bright citrus and something more grounded. Lee's choice to include petitgrain alongside neroli, pulling two expressions from the same bitter orange tree, creates a green thread that runs through the entire wear. It's neroli with its own shadow attached.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are pure citrus snap. Petitgrain and neroli come up sharp, almost medicinal, the way orange peel smells when you tear it fresh. There's a green, leafy quality underneath, like walking through a grove after rain. The lavender and saffron arrive around the fifteen-minute mark, softening the edges without rounding them off. The saffron doesn't go sweet here. It sits metallic and cool, almost like pencil shavings mixed with suede. Iris arrives next, and this is where the composition shifts. The powdery, rooty coolness of iris pushes everything else back a step, letting the citrus recede into something quieter. By the two-hour mark, you're wearing a different fragrance. Orcanox and amberwood take over, warm and a little saline, with the neroli still flickering underneath like a memory.
