The beginning
Neon Amber arrived in 2021 from perfumer Jérôme Di Marino, and the name says everything. This isn't amber as afterthought or base-note filler. It's amber as the main event, built bold, built warm, built to linger. A fragrance that takes the resinous, golden warmth of the accord and runs with it, no apologies. The amber accord here is unapologetically rich, dripping with honeyed warmth and a resinous depth that anchors the composition from the first spray. What makes Neon Amber distinctive is the mineral ambroxan working against the sweetness. Ambroxan has a cool, almost oceanic quality, salt without the sea, clean without the citrus. Paired with tonka bean and amber, it creates a push-pull tension: warm sweetness and cool mineral cutting against each other, neither winning. The evolution
The opening hits bright. Bergamot sparks against Cistus absolute's rich, resinous character. Bergamot lifts the top, but Cistus is already pulling downward, deep, balsamic, the smell of ancient cistus bushes in resinous bloom. Within minutes the heart arrives. Tonka bean absolute and amber create a creamy warmth that borders on gourmand, then the hay absolute interrupts. Dry, slightly green, almost dusty. The contradiction is the point, sweetness held in check by something earthier and more honest. Then the base reshapes everything. Ambroxan introduces a mineral cool that cuts through the warmth like ice in good whiskey. The sweetness doesn't disappear, it reorganizes, settling into something deeper and more atmospheric. Patchouli and Cistus absolute anchor the drydown: resinous, earthy, with a faint smoky warmth that stays close to the skin. The ambroxan is the tell.
