The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bohemian Absinthe arrived in 2019, named for the bohemian spirit of late 19th-century Paris, its smoky salons, artistic frenzy, and Latin Quarter charm. The fragrance channels the green, cold bite of absinthe through eucalyptus and kumquat, then grounds it in smoky vetiver, white leather, and sandalwood. Created by Jérôme Epinette and Pierre Wulff, the composition opens with that unmistakable herbal sharpness, the kind that makes your senses stand at attention. The kumquat adds a tart citrus brightness that cuts through the medicinal intensity, while the eucalyptus delivers that cold, almost mentholated bite that defines absinthe's character.
The name isn't decorative. Bohemian Absinthe references the absinthe houses of Montmartre, places where artists gathered, drank, and made something new. The fragrance mirrors that spirit through an unlikely pairing: cool, medicinal eucalyptus against smoky, earthy vetiver. Apple blossom softens the transition, adding a quiet floral sweetness that keeps the composition from becoming too austere.
The evolution
The opening is immediate: eucalyptus, sharp and cold, that unmistakable absinthe bite. Kumquat follows quickly, adding a tart citrus brightness that lifts the herbal intensity. About an hour in, the apple blossom emerges, delicate, slightly sweet, a brief warmth before the base takes over. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its name. Vetiver smoke arrives gradually, threading through sandalwood and white leather until the composition becomes something quieter and more intimate. The smoke lingers longest, a quiet trace that outlasts everything else. The transition from the bright herbal opening to the warmer base happens smoothly, with apple blossom keeping things balanced rather than letting the scent become too austere. Vetiver smoke emerges gradually, weaving through sandalwood and white leather until the composition settles into something warmer and more intimate.
Cultural impact
Bohemian Absinthe stands as a woody aromatic fragrance, the kind that rewards attention rather than disappearing into the background. The combination of cold eucalyptus and smoky vetiver creates a distinctive character, a scent that invites you to lean in and discover how the notes interact as they develop on skin. Sandalwood and white leather ground the composition, while apple blossom adds a subtle sweetness that tempers the sharper edges without overwhelming them. The result is a woody aromatic that feels both sophisticated and approachable.
