The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Some scents name themselves. Scent of Angels arrived in 2023 carrying a thematic weight that most fragrances avoid altogether: the celestial, the devotional, the unprovable. The name asks something of the wearer before the juice even touches skin. Most houses that swing for the heavens collapse into incense-and-fog mysticism, chasing transcendence with smoke machines and oud layering. Scent of Angels takes a different path. The official positioning speaks of dazzling whiteness, of being reminded you are loved, of a fragrance that portrays angels rather than describing them. That's the brief. What matters is whether the composition holds it.
The composition is small on purpose, just six notes arranged with care. Juniper and violet leaf open cold and green, almost medicinal in their clarity, like the first breath through a window in early spring. The violet leaf has that green crunch, that slight bitterness that reads as outdoor rather than powder-room. As the top notes settle, jasmine enters the arrangement, carrying a cleaner sweetness than the indolic varieties often associated with night-blooming compositions. The jasmine here stays bright rather than heady, closer to petals than to perfume.
The evolution
The opening belongs to violet leaf, which reads cool, slightly bitter, with the green crunch of juniper underneath, like walking through a garden after rain while the air still carries the chill. That opening doesn't linger indefinitely; it gives way, and the violet recedes as jasmine takes its place, but softly, like someone humming in the next room. White amber enters as the jasmine matures, wrapping it in something warm and almost mineral, a texture that suggests light without rendering it. The base reveals itself in stages: sandalwood first, creamy and clean, then vanilla settling underneath with the patience of something meant to stay. The drydown is where Scent of Angels earns its intensity. The vanilla and sandalwood remain present, remaining soft, remaining close to skin for an extended wear.
Cultural impact
Scent of Angels sits within a current of releases from small independent houses, where the brief leans into thematic ambition over crowd-pleasing versatility. The fragrance isn't built to fill a room. It carries an intimacy that rewards proximity, the kind of scent that reveals itself only when someone leans close enough to notice. Worn in settings where the conversation slows down and the room softens, it becomes a detail rather than a declaration. The composition reads as devotional without performing religion, white without performing innocence, and complex without performing expertise.
