The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Shiyaaka Gold arrived in 2023 as Khadlaj Perfumes' answer to a specific kind of woman: someone who wants oriental richness without borrowing it from a louder genre. The house built its reputation on Dehn al Oud, rose, and musk compositions, but Shiyaaka Gold took a different path. White florals and fruit at the center, anchored by the kind of amber and sandalwood that Gulf fragrance traditions have always known how to handle. It was designed to be confident without being demanding. Worn, not performed.
What makes Shiyaaka Gold work is the way the white florals don't compete with the warm base. Gardenia and jasmine carry a certain creamy weight that could easily tip into something cloying, but the bergamot at the opening keeps everything in check for the first hour. The pear and peach in the heart are translucent rather than saccharine. And the sandalwood beneath it all is the kind of steady foundation that Arabic perfumery has perfected over generations. It's a composition that knows when to step back.
The evolution
The bergamot hits first, sharp and immediate. Citrus and something almost salty, like the first breath after stepping out of air conditioning. Gardenia arrives within minutes, its creaminess softening the bergamot's edges. The musk underneath begins to surface, warming the white florals from below. Within an hour, the jasmine takes over the heart. Pear and peach appear as a faint sweetness that keeps the florals from getting too heavy. The composition shifts from bright to soft, from something you notice to something you feel. By the third hour, sandalwood and amber define the drydown. The sillage settles close to the skin. This is where it becomes intimate. The powdery quality of the jasmine lingers alongside the warmth of the amber, and on some skin types, a faint animalic trace from the musk peeks through at the very end. Shiyaaka Gold doesn't disappear so much as it becomes part of you.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 launch, Shiyaaka Gold has positioned itself as a signature piece in the Khadlaj catalog for those who want oriental florals with a modern sensibility. It appeals to wearers who appreciate the house's Arabic perfumery roots but want something softer and more everyday than traditional musk or oud compositions.
