The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Romano Ricci launched Juliette Has A Gun in 2005, a Paris house built on the premise that fine fragrance had become too polite. Ricci, great-grandson of Nina Ricci, deliberately trained outside the family shadow, choosing to build something entirely his own. The brand wears provocation like a signature, and Juliette is its clearest statement of intent. The name is not a nod to Shakespeare, it is a declaration of a character who is dangerous, intelligent, and fully in command of her own narrative.
Each note in Juliette was chosen to serve a specific role in shaping its emotional arc. The sour cherry and pink pepper pair to create an opening that is lively and slightly dangerous, refusing to whisper. Jasmine anchors the heart as the signature floral, warm and unapologetically present, bridging the gap between the energetic top and the softer base. Cashmeran provides the texture between heart and drydown, a soft wood that gives sensuality without heaviness. Tonka bean finishes the composition with a sweet, vanillic warmth that extends longevity and intimacy. Tog ether, these notes create a fragrance that feels complete, coherent, and distinctly modern.
The evolution
The fragrance opens on the skin with sour cherry and pink pepper, a tart and crisp combination that announces immediate presence. Pink pepper keeps the sweetness of the cherry in check while adding a spicy facet that feels both modern and edgy. As the opening recedes, jasmine blooms at the heart, plush and slightly narcotic, demanding space. Cashmeran follows, wrapping the floral warmth in a soft, almost ambery finish. Tonka bean then anchors the drydown, ensuring the final hours feel creamy and Intimate rather than sharp or fleeting. This arc moves from bold confrontation to quiet confidence, and the journey feels intentional rather than accidental.
Cultural impact
Juliette sits in a specific space: floral-fruity where the floral is the point, not the cherry. The jasmine absolute in the heart is what makes it distinctive, dense and indolic in a way that cherry fragrances rarely attempt. It's romantic without being precious, powerful without being aggressive. The woman who wears this is confident enough to let the jasmine speak for her.
