The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Horizon joined Gissah's Signature Collection in 2024. The composition reads as a study in temperature shifts, in what happens when something cool and translucent gives way to warmer, more grounded territory. Yuzu and sweet violet arrive first, bright and almost edible, the kind of opening that catches light before settling. Then red amber and lavender take over the center, pulling the scent into softer, more cushioned space. It's a deliberate arc from airy to enveloping, a composition that understands contrast as its core device.
Pairing yuzu with sweet violet up top gives Horizon a translucent quality, a see-through brightness that lifts the whole composition. The red amber in the heart brings warmth without weight, cushioned by lavender, which adds aromatic freshness and a clean herbal lift. The sandalwood and tonka base keeps the whole thing creamy and skin-close, with a quiet sweetness that lingers close to the body rather than projecting outward.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to yuzu, sharp and almost effervescent against the candied sweetness of violet. It's the coldest the fragrance gets. Around the twenty-minute mark, red amber begins to surface, pulling the violet's powderiness into something warmer and more resinous. Lavender threads through the middle, adding a clean herbal edge that keeps the amber from going heavy. By hour three, the composition has settled into its final form: sandalwood's creamy warmth, tonka's soft vanillic hum, and just enough amber residue to keep things from feeling flat. The drydown stays close to skin for the next few hours, a quiet blend rather than a statement.
Cultural impact
Horizon offers an interesting balance: the powdery violet opening and yuzu brightness give it an airy, accessible quality, while the red amber, sandalwood, and tonba base anchor it in warmth and weight. It's a composition that moves between registers, bright enough to wear in daylight, warm enough to settle into evening. The kind of scent that rewards attention without demanding it.
