The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
FURIOSA® partnered with The Miners, inspired by their iced coconut matcha latte, to create a fragrance that translates the drink's cult following into scent form. The collaboration launched in 2025, capturing the growing ritual of matcha as an everyday pleasure. Perfumer Václav Lebeda built the composition around matcha and Calabrian bergamot, creating something that captures both the taste and the feeling of that first sip. Matcha Date is the result, an invitation to pause, unhurried and intentional.
What sets Matcha Date apart is how Lebeda approaches the matcha note, building it into something aromatic rather than medicinal. He pairs it with lemongrass to give it an aromatic lift, then anchors everything in coconut cream and musk that keep the drydown skin-close and warm. The result is a fragrance that smells like a well-made latte: green and creamy in equal measure, with enough citrus brightness up top to keep it from flattening out. It's a composition that rewards patience, revealing different facets as the hours pass.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately: bergamot and mandarin, bright and awake. No preamble. For a while, this is a citrus fragrance, sharp and immediate. Then the green tea arrives and something shifts. The lemongrass adds an aromatic edge that lifts the composition without making it sharp. The matcha doesn't hit you all at once, it builds, quiet and steady, until you realize it's the dominant note now. Next, the coconut cream emerges, softening everything. The cedar and musk come last, settling the fragrance into a powdery, skin-close warmth that lingers for hours after the initial brightness has faded. What you notice is how clean it stays, no heavy sweetness, no animalic punch. Just green and warm and close.
Cultural impact
Matcha Date arrives at a cultural moment where matcha has moved beyond drink into lifestyle statement. The FURIOSA® x The Miners collaboration tapped into this cultural shift, translating the appeal of the iced coconut matcha latte into olfactory form. In the fragrance world, it appeals to wearers who want something green but not sharp, warm but not heavy. The unisex positioning and year-round versatility have made it adaptable for daily wear.
