The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Gourmand Power arrived in 2024 as part of Federico Cantelli's expanding line of sweet, precise compositions. By then, Cantelli had established a clear signature, fragrances that feel like specific moments rather than abstract concepts. A rose that blooms inside crystal. A pistachio that recalls a quiet afternoon. With Gourmand Power, the brief was simple: a dessert you can wear. Not a vague idea of sweetness, but the actual feeling of cream setting, of caramel cooling into something rich and unapologetic. Cantelli has always treated perfumery as a dialogue between memory and material. This is that dialogue at its most direct, the comfort of a kitchen, translated into something you apply to your wrist instead of your plate.
Panna cotta is an unusual choice for a fragrance pyramid. Unlike a cake or a cookie, it isn't defined by flavor, it's defined by texture. Silken. Cool. It wobbles. The dessert that disappears fastest because it melts on your tongue before you can think about it. Building a fragrance around that concept means prioritizing feeling over hitting familiar flavor notes. The lactonic milk accord does the heavy lifting here, it creates that cool, slightly dairy quality in the opening rather than leaning on sweetness alone. Caramel then arrives to deepen things, and honey anchors the drydown with a warmth that lingers. This is dessert as architecture, not decoration.
The evolution
The opening is cool. Creamy. Panna cotta in its purest form, vanilla thick and almost silken on the skin. The pear surfaces early, a brief brightness that cuts through the richness before it can settle. Thirty minutes in, the caramel softens. The milk stays close to the skin, warming against it rather than sitting apart. The vanilla and milk begin to fuse into something richer, more intimate. By the fourth hour, the honey surfaces. Warm, faintly amber-like, sweet without asking for attention. The woody base keeps everything grounded, a whisper of something that stops the sweetness from floating away entirely. On skin, expect six to eight hours. On fabric, it lingers into the next morning.
Cultural impact
Gourmand Power joins a crowded field of edible fragrances, but Cantelli's approach, precise sweetness, unexpected depth, carves distinct territory. Wearers describe it as the scent of comfort without apology. The community splits on its linearity, but agrees on one thing: if you want sweet, this delivers.
