Why it exists.
The beginning
Pinkies Up arrived in 2022 as part of Damask Haus's Treehouse Retreat Collection, a suite that reads like an invitation to linger somewhere quiet. Perfumer Bri Beyer built it around a tension: the bright, almost confectionery sweetness of fruit against the grounded, herbal weight of oakmoss. The name does the work of setting the scene: pinkies up, teacup balanced, an afternoon that doesn't ask you to check the time. The composition captures a specific kind of stillness, the kind found at a window seat where the light goes amber and nobody stands up to leave. Each note pulls toward that scene, from the floral lift of neroli to the preserved-fruit depth of maraschino cherry, with black tea threading through the middle like steam curling off a fresh cup.
What makes the composition work is the collision between maraschino cherry and oakmoss, two materials that almost never share the same room. The cherry brings candied sweetness and that preserved-fruit depth, dense and syrupy in the best way; the oakmoss brings a damp, forest-floor bitterness that prevents the whole thing from sliding into cloying territory. Black tea threads through both, adding tannin and a faintly smoky undertone that softens the fruit's sharper edges. Neroli opens the door, sharp and floral, before the richer fruit takes over and the tea settles into the background.
The evolution
The opening is all neroli and black tea, sharp and almost botanical, like steam rising off a fresh cup. The guava and cherry arrive together in a lush, warm wave, taking over as the top notes settle. What surprises is how long the tea stays audible underneath, like a string section that never fully drops out. Eventually the fruit pulls back and the oakmoss takes its place, green and slightly bitter, mossy in the truest sense. That mossy close carries the later hours of wear, staying close without vanishing entirely. On fabric, the fragrance leaves a quieter trace: oakmoss and a ghost of cherry, something like the memory of a teacup left on a windowsill, still holding onto the last of the afternoon.
