The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Glass Bauble arrived in 2022 as part of Damask Haus's Silent Night Collection. Perfumer Bri Beyer built the composition around an unusual center: fenugreek, a spice more common in kitchens than in amber-leaning orientals, paired with the soft sweetness of persimmon and a suede base. The name does quiet work. A glass bauble catches light, holds color, and stays still in the hand. The fragrance behaves the same way, holding its composition with a steady, translucent quality. Nothing in the blend demands attention. The persimmon glows rather than sparkles, the fenugreek hums rather than bites, and the suede settles in like something that's always been there. You catch a waft hours later and realize the scent has been quietly present the whole time, neither fading nor pushing forward.
Persimmon is an interesting choice in a composition that leans leathery and ambery. It brings a honeyed, almost dusty ripeness that flatters musk and suede without competing with them. The fruit behaves more like a texture than a flavor, something you sense on the skin as a warmth and weight rather than a sweetness you can name. That quality makes it a generous partner for the spices and the suede beneath. Then the fenugreek does something deliberate. The seed carries a maple-sweet, slightly celery-edged warmth that lands between savory and gourmand.
The evolution
The opening belongs to persimmon and a bright, clean slice of citrus that lifts the fruit without turning it into a cocktail. The persimmon reads like ripe flesh rather than syrup, a honeyed dust that sits on warm skin. The citrus adds a sparkle that catches at the edges, bright and brief, like sunlight moving across a window. Together they create an introduction that feels light and inviting, a moment of clarity before the composition settles into its deeper rhythms. As the first hour unfolds, the fenugreek steps forward and the citrus recedes. The spice arrives with a maple-edged warmth, a savory undertone that stops the fruit from feeling like dessert. The suede underneath becomes more visible, soft and slightly powdery, the way a napped leather feels under your thumb. Red amber glows at the edges, amber but not golden, closer to the color of a garnet held to a lamp.
Cultural impact
Glass Bauble offers something you don't often find in amber-leaning compositions: fenugreek placed at the heart of the blend rather than tucked into the background. The choice alone sets the fragrance apart, and it's the kind of detail that invites curiosity from anyone who likes to look past the top notes. The fenugreek itself is a compelling presence, carrying a maple-sweet warmth with a savory, almost celery-edged undertone. It sits comfortably between gourmand and spiced, never tipping too far in either direction.
