The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Me First arrived in 2022, co-created by Dominique Ropion and Caroline Dumur. The name says everything: a fragrance built on the premise that putting yourself first isn't selfish, it's the foundation of everything else. Two master perfumers, one clear intention.
Lychee and pink grapefruit open bright and immediately, a glossy, tart lift that reads modern without trying. The Turkish rose doesn't tiptoe in, it walks. Cardamom threads warmth through the heart, keeping the florals grounded and slightly spiced rather than light and forgettable. What makes this pyramid interesting is how the base performs: cedar and sandalwood together create a woody foundation that is creamy, present, and anything but an afterthought. The composition threads tropical fruit into woody warmth without either side winning, it's a genuine balance.
The evolution
The lychee and grapefruit hit first, bright and glossy, almost startling in their clarity. Thirty seconds in, the grapefruit fades and the lychee settles, still sweet, but warmer. The Turkish rose arrives around the 30-minute mark, assertively, the cardamom arriving just behind it to keep the transition smooth. By the 2-hour mark, the cedar and sandalwood have taken over. What lingers is a creamy, close warmth, the kind that stays on skin rather than filling a room. On fabric, it lasts into the next day, faint and woody, a reminder rather than a statement.
Cultural impact
Me First exists in the crowded fruity-floral category but carves its own space through the assertiveness of its Turkish rose and the genuine woody depth of its base. This isn't a skin-scent that fades into nothing, the cedar-sandalwood drydown carries the composition through a full workday. The woman who reaches for Me First already knows what she wants and isn't waiting for permission. For the brand's positioning around modern femininity and effortless authority, this fragrance hits the brief without retreading old ground.
