The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Turathi collection takes its name from turath, Arabic for heritage, or legacy, and Afnan built this line as an exploration of what Middle Eastern perfumery carries forward. Turathi Purple enters as the feminine counterpart: a fragrance that reaches for richness without gatekeeping. The brand's philosophy has always been direct, exceptional scent should not require a velvet rope. This one is the proof.
What makes the structure interesting is how the sweet and the earthy refuse to stay in their lanes. Cardamom and black pepper open warm, almost sharp, then red fruits arrive to soften the edges without diluting them. The pineapple-jasmine pairing in the heart is where most compositions stumble into caricature, but the jasmine keeps the tropical fruit grounded. Patchouli and moss in the base are not decorative; they give the vanilla something to lean against so the drydown doesn't just dissolve into sugar.
The evolution
Cardamom and black pepper arrive together, bright, immediate, with the red fruits barely a whisper underneath. The first twenty minutes are all about the spice; it's confident, almost conversational. Then the pineapple enters. Not in a flashy way. It layers over the warmth like afternoon light through curtains. The jasmine follows, not to overtake but to extend, to make the sweetness last longer than it should. By the third hour, the heart has fully arrived. Pineapple and jasmine together, warm without heat. This is the wearing phase, the part that defines the day for anyone around you. The patchouli begins its slow emergence, earthy and dark, pulling the composition downward. The moss is quiet, more texture than scent at this point. By hour six, the vanilla surfaces. Not in a burst, more like remembering something you'd forgotten. The patchouli anchors it, keeps it from floating away. This is where Turathi Purple earns its name: the base notes hold.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Turathi Purple has accumulated a strong following among those who want Oriental richness without the traditional markers of luxury. The fragrance sits alongside other Middle Eastern expressions of femininity, bold, warm, unapologetically sweet, but distinguishes itself through the pineapple-jasmine heart, which gives it a modern lift. Wearers describe it as the scent of someone who chose what they wanted and got it.
