The beginning
ODR-211 Lucent arrived in 2021 as the first note of A-chromiq's light-themed trio. Perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer was tasked with turning the idea of lucent, a clear, radiant quality, into scent. Drawing on the brand's visual focus on colour and refraction, she built a composition that mirrors a bright, transparent prism rather than a dense, saturated pigment. The challenge was achieving luminosity without relying on florals; Feisthauer turned to aldehydes as her primary tool for transparency, paired with citrus materials that read as clear rather than sweet.
The note selection for ODR-211 Lucent is driven by a philosophy of transparency and contrast. Grapefruit and mandarin orange create a tart, effervescent foundation that feels bright and immediate. Aldehydes amplify this quality, giving the citrus an almost crystalline sharpness. Rhubarb adds a green complexity that prevents the composition from reading as simple fruit, while coriander introduces aromatic warmth. The woody notes and vetiver in the base serve a crucial role: they anchor the composition, preventing the brightness from becoming superficial or fleeting.
