The beginning
Zara's 2019 collaboration with Jo Malone CBE produced a small collection of fragrances built on contrast rather than convention. Gourmand Leather was the outlier, not the clean citrus or fresh aquatic the market expected, but something sweeter, stranger. The brief seemed simple: leather, but make it approachable. The execution was anything but. Iris powder became the bridge between sharp bergamot and the leather that anchors the base, creating a fragrance that smells expensive without trying to.

The evolution
