The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Heart is part of Veronique Gabai's Aroma line, a set of fragrances built around mood rather than place. This one aims at something more internal: a citrus-driven composition designed to lift, energize, and shift the energy of whoever walks into the room wearing it. The concept sits apart from typical landscape-driven perfum. Here, the goal is less about evocation of a specific location and more about a feeling, a pulse, something you wear close to the chest. The composition draws on a tension between sharp citrus and grounding warmth. Grapefruit, bergamot, and lemon open cold and immediate, almost like juice squeezed over ice. Clary sage, jasmine, and clove thread through the middle, giving the citrus a spine it rarely gets.
What's interesting here is the contrast between the perfume's stated purpose, joy, energy, fighting fatigue, and what the structure actually delivers. Most citrus-driven fragrances stay one-note: bright, quick, disposable. Heart uses cedarwood, clary sage, and clove to slow that brightness down and give it a spine. The result is a composition that reads as aromatic-citrus on first pass but transitions into something warmer and spicier without ever losing its clarity.
The evolution
The first five minutes are all grapefruit and bergamot, cut with lemon for sharpness. Cold, clean, almost like squeezing citrus into cold water. The kind of opening that wakes up a room. Then the jasmine and clary sage arrive, and the composition shifts from sharp to aromatic. The clary sage adds an herbal, almost bitter greenness that keeps the citrus honest. No sugar-coating. The jasmine is barely there, more a whisper than a bloom, threading warmth into the top without softening it. As the composition settles, cedarwood and clove take over. The citrus fades to a memory, and what remains is woody, dry, faintly spiced. The clove warms from below while the cedarwood gives it structure. This is the longest phase of the composition, and it's where Heart earns its name.
Cultural impact
Heart sits within Veronique Gabai's Aroma line, a sub-collection designed around mood and energy rather than place. The fragrance is built to bring joy and positivity, marketed in part for its potential to battle anxiety and fatigue through the invigorating effects of its citrus component. The composition itself reads as a hybrid: bright enough to feel like a wellness product, structured enough to qualify as fine fragrance. The cedarwood and clove base give it the kind of weight that keeps it from disappearing into the background, while the citrus opening delivers the immediate mood-lift the brand intends.
