Heritage
A house, in its own words
Tonatto Profumi began in 2000 when Laura Bosetti Tonatto and her husband Alberto established their atelier in Turin. Laura had been working as a professional perfumer since 1986, creating fragrances for major cosmetic houses before launching her own laboratory. Her deep knowledge of aromatic materials and manufacturing processes laid the foundation for the brand's meticulous approach. The couple built their operation around a commitment to Italian craftsmanship and creative freedom. In 2021, Diletta Tonatto, Laura's daughter, took the helm, bringing fresh vision while honoring her mother's expertise. The brand now oversees more than 20 fragrances spanning two decades. The earliest documented release is Oropuro from 2000, with notable later works including Ápeiron in 2015, Nerola and Viburnum in 2016, Profumo Di Vita in 2017, Freyja in 2018, and Baci from far away in 2021. Each scent reflects the family's ongoing passion for olfactory storytelling.
Tonatto approaches fragrance as both craft and conversation between maker and material. Rather than chasing seasonal trends, the house develops scents that emerge from genuine creative impulse and technical mastery. This philosophy prioritizes artistic integrity over commercial pressure, allowing each fragrance to develop its own identity. The house treats perfumery as a living art form, where traditional techniques meet contemporary perspective. Every composition reflects careful consideration of how individual ingredients interact, guided by intuition and trained expertise. This produces fragrances that feel intentional and personal, rather than formulaic. The brand deliberately keeps production intimate and focused, ensuring each scent receives the attention it deserves.
