The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Thomas Kosmala built his house on a simple idea: let the materials lead. Trained classically in Paris, he chose London as his seat in 2014, a city he believed would support a creative vision that didn't fit conventional boxes. The brand launched with oud-focused compositions but evolved toward classically French fine fragrances, each designed as genderless and fluid. Exsupero arrived in 2024 as part of the Bandana Collection, and its name alone tells you where this sits. Exsupero, to surpass, to rise above. The concept: self-actualized serendipity. Not luck stumbling into your lap, but the person who invites fortune through tenacity and composure. A confidence to ride the waves of life's unexpected turns. Kosmala translated that idea into a fragrance that opens clean and finishes grounded, bright citrus giving way to green depth, ending in a woody warmth that stays close to the skin.
What makes Exsupero's structure interesting is the restraint at the top. Three notes, orange, pink pepper, vetiver, doing quiet work instead of a crowded opening. The pink pepper especially brings a delicate warmth that differs from the harsh spice of black pepper; it's floral more than fiery. Pair that with the earthy, slightly smoky vetiver, and you have an opening that reads clean but isn't thin. The heart, green notes and grass, shifts the composition from bright to organic. This is where the fragrance earns its nature: the freshly cut grass accord brings a natural, almost nostalgic quality that grounds the citrus opening.
The evolution
The opening announces clean citrus and delicate spice, orange bright and immediate, pink pepper lending a soft floral warmth that arrives almost concurrently. Vetiver hovers underneath, keeping things from floating too light. This phase holds for thirty minutes to an hour, depending on skin. Then the green heart takes over. The grass and green accords don't arrive dramatically, they settle in like morning fog lifting from a field. The composition shifts from bright to organic, from citrus to earth. By the second hour, the base begins its slow reveal. Sandalwood emerges first, creamy and warm, followed by patchouli's earthy depth and musk's skin-like intimacy. The drydown is quiet. Not absent, present, but close. It stays within arm's reach rather than filling the room. On most skin types, Exsupero holds for five to six hours, settling into a warm, self-assured trace by the final stretch.
Cultural impact
Exsupero has earned a reputation as a fresh, confident option for those seeking something beyond typical designer fare. The fragrance is respected by enthusiasts for its potency, described as a grown-up, more restrained take on modern masculine freshness. It has developed a loyal following among those who appreciate understated compositions over loud performers. The genderless positioning and versatile character reflect a broader shift in perfumery toward fluid identity and universal wearability.
