Why it exists.
The beginning
Transcend arrived in 2019 from The Phluid Project, composed by perfumer Gabriela Chelariu. The composition reads warm and wears easy, a tropical-fruity blend that refuses to announce its target audience. Dragon fruit and pineapple leaf open the door, giving the opening a green-edged sweetness with just enough tartness to keep things lively. Sea salt and tiare flower move through the middle, the salt lending a sun-warmed breeze while the tiare adds a creamy, slightly waxy floral character that softens the whole arrangement. Vanilla orchid and palo santo settle the floor, the orchid contributing a soft, almost milky warmth and the palo santo grounding everything with a dry, faintly smoky woodiness.
What's notable here is the way fruit, florals, and salt are balanced with palo santo in the base. The palo santo and vanilla orchid pull this one toward something drier, almost incense-like at the drydown. The tiare flower carries a slightly waxy, sun-warmed quality that reads as skin rather than perfume, giving the heart of the fragrance a subtle, lived-in character rather than a polished floralcy. Dragon fruit remains one of the less common fruity notes in mainstream perfumery, which gives Transcend a quiet novelty factor without gimmickry.
The evolution
The first 20 minutes are bright and almost sharp: pineapple leaf carries a green, almost bitter edge against the soft sweetness of dragon fruit. This is the most overtly tropical moment, the moment where the fruit notes feel loudest and most immediate. As the opening fades, the salt starts pulling forward and the fruit gets quieter. By the 45-minute mark the tiare flower takes over, creamy and slightly waxy, with that sea-salt breeze underneath making everything feel sun-warmed rather than humid. The tiare here behaves like a texture as much as a scent, giving the heart a soft, almost tactile quality that bridges the bright opening and the warmer base. Around the 2-hour mark, the vanilla orchid arrives and the composition shifts warmer, more skin-like. The palo santo grounds it: a dry, slightly smoky woodiness that keeps the sweetness from tipping cloying.
