Why it exists.
The beginning
The Dua Brand launched Drowning In Poseidon's 11z Elixir in 2022 as part of their Inspired Hybrid collection. This particular composition draws from two well-known references: Creed Aventus, specifically the 2011 Z01 batch, and Nishane Ani, recognized for its warm vanilla and ambergris depth. The result is a Fruity Chypré crossed with Gourmand tendencies, bottled as an Extrait de Parfum at 30ml. The name leans into the aquatic mythology, evoking the god of the sea and the sense of submersion that the title suggests. It is still in production, vegan according to the manufacturer, and classified as a Floral Fruity Gourmand for women and men. On skin, the opening hits with that sharp, juicy burst of pineapple that Aventus is famous for, bright and almost electric against a backdrop of citrus.
What makes the composition distinctive is the sheer density of the note list, with nearly twenty named materials contributing to its complex character. Turkish rose, sandalwood, patchouli, ambergris, benzoin, oakmoss, jasmine, cedar, birch, and blue ginger all play important roles in building the fragrance's layered architecture. The accord profile draws on woody, warm spicy, amber, fruity, powdery, and green elements, each contributing to a rich, multifaceted whole.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are loud: bergamot, blackcurrant, pineapple, and pink pepper land in a bright, almost fizzy burst. The fruit feels ripe and slightly powdery from the start, the way real pineapple smells before you cut into it. By the 30-minute mark, the heart opens. Turkish rose and jasmine push through the green notes and cardamom, while blue ginger adds a clean, metallic warmth that softens the fruit. Sandalwood and cedar arrive underneath, building the woody scaffolding. Around hour two, the smoke shows up. Birch and patchouli ground the composition, and the benzoin starts pulling the vanilla forward. From hour three onward, you are in the drydown: vanilla, ambergris, oakmoss, and musk, warm and slightly sweet, the kind of skin-adjacent scent that lasts through an evening. The pineapple is gone, but the structure it created remains, and the vanilla close lingers well into the next morning on fabric.
