The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ouroboros draws its name from the ancient alchemical symbol of a serpent consuming its own tail, representing infinity, renewal, and the cyclical nature of transformation. The serpent forms a closed loop, a circle that eats itself and is reborn in the act. Sucreabeille built this composition within the Alchemist collection, a series of scents rooted in esoteric and mystical traditions. The green-leafy opening of galbanum and anise coils into itself, sharp and herbal, before the tobacco base grounds the spiral. What circles back at the end is not the same thing that started. It's grown darker, warmer, more grounded. The fragrance enacts its own myth: a scent that consumes its fresh beginning and exhales something ancient.
Galbanum brings a bitter, almost metallic sharpness to the composition, the kind of green that reads as raw rather than decorative. Pairing it with anise creates tension between sweetness and bitterness, coldness and warmth. Sucreabeille doesn't soften that contrast; it leans into it. The white thyme adds a camphorated edge that reads as almost pharmaceutical, which keeps the fragrance from tipping into pure herbal comfort. This is a green scent with a backbone, not a soft garden walk.
The evolution
The opening belongs to galbanum, anise, and peppermint doing something almost aggressive. It smells like someone crushed a fistful of herbs into a glass, sharp enough to clear sinuses. The sweetness of the anise and star anise keeps it from feeling clinical, but there's no mistaking this for a polite fragrance. As it wears, the white thyme settles in and the green sharpens into something more nuanced, less weaponized. The peppermint persists but stops leading. Eventually the tobacco arrives, and it doesn't just sit at the bottom. It climbs through the composition, warming the anise, softening the galbanum, turning the sharp green into something earthier and more lived-in. The final hours are a quiet tobacco-anise blend, warm and slightly sweet, that lingers on skin like the memory of something that burned bright at the start.
Cultural impact
Ouroboros sits within Sucreabeille's Alchemist collection, a series of fragrances built around esoteric and mystical symbols. The Alchemist line draws on alchemical imagery and esoteric traditions to anchor each scent in a specific mythology. Within the Alchemist collection, Ouroboros leans fully herbal and green, which gives it a distinct profile compared to other entries in the series. It offers something contemplative and unpredictable to wearers who want their fragrance to carry symbolic weight.
