Heritage
A house, in its own words
Step Aboard traces its origins to 2016 when Georgiana Mocanu and Daniele Morando established their fragrance house in Italy. The founders, described as young entrepreneurs in their early venture, identified a gap in the market for perfumes designed to work intuitively across both skin and hair. Rather than approaching perfumery from a traditional luxury angle, they built their brand around personal utility and sensory flexibility. The brand made its formal debut in 2018 with a collection of eight fragrances unveiled in Milan, the city that would serve as both creative touchstone and primary market. Among those initial releases were Cuoio di Thaon, Bosco Sospeso, and 3D Sul Duomo, establishing a pattern of naming scents after locations and sensory experiences rooted in Italian culture. The brand continued releasing new work through subsequent years, with Sunday Street and Infinite Square arriving in 2021, followed by Black & White, Silver Cloud, and Red Flamingo in 2023. This steady output reflects an approach grounded in consistent creative development rather than seasonal marketing cycles.
Step Aboard operates from the conviction that fragrance should function across the body without compromise. Their founding principle centered on creating perfumes that perform equally well on skin and hair, a practical consideration that shaped their formulation approach from the beginning. The brand rejects the notion that perfume must remain confined to traditional application points, instead embracing a philosophy of sensory versatility. Their fragrance names suggest an interest in transition and movement: Transitions Gate, Infinite Square, Silver Cloud. These titles imply states of becoming rather than fixed identities, aligning with a gender-fluid aesthetic that avoids the binary categorizations common in fragrance marketing. The brand draws creative material from ordinary Italian life and urban geography, transforming everyday locations and moments into olfactory narratives. Rather than positioning themselves within the luxury tier of perfumery, Step Aboard presents their work as accessible and functional, prioritizing sensory experience over exclusivity.
