Why it exists.
The beginning
Celestial Gala was released in 2021 as part of Scent Trunk's Botanical Machinist collection, and the concept reaches outward into the imagery of deep space. The inspiration is the Butterfly Nebula, a real astronomical structure: a dying star at its center, ejecting layers of gas outward in sheets that glow against the dark. That image of something luminous burning through its own envelope, half radiance and half unraveling, translated into a composition of marine notes, milky lactones, and musk-driven accords that balance brightness with softness. Sivrican is one of several indie perfumers commissioned under Scent Trunk's Original Editions line, where independent creators develop limited formulations released under their own conceptual frames.
What makes the construction unusual is the collision of registers. Milky gourmand materials don't typically share a frame with metallic mints and marine notes, and the risk is that the composition splits into two halves that refuse to speak to each other. Sivrican holds them in dialogue through musk, a synthetic that behaves like connective tissue: it carries sweetness without syrup, brightness without ozone. The result reads as aqueous but not watery, sweet but not candied, mineral but not industrial.
The evolution
The opening ten minutes are nearly all shimmer. Marine notes and citrus hit the wrist like a splash of cold water, sharp, mineral, slightly soapy, with mint flickering underneath like a fluorescent light catching at the edge of your eye. The first impression is one of speed and clarity, almost aggressive in its brightness before the softer materials have a chance to register. By the thirty-minute mark, white florals and milk move in. The composition softens but doesn't warm; it just gets quieter, more intimate, as if someone turned down the overhead lighting and let the room settle around you. What surprises is how long the metallic note persists, threading underneath the musk as the hours pass, a faint cool glint that refuses to disappear entirely.
