Heritage
A house, in its own words
The origins of nBitor trace back to a small studio in Barcelona where a perfumer named Thomas (surname not publicly disclosed) gathered a circle of like‑minded creators in the early 2020s. In an interview with BcnCoolHunter, Thomas described the venture as a response to the growing homogenisation of mainstream fragrance, aiming to preserve the craft of scent as a personal signature. The first public release, Ocaña, arrived in 2023 and was followed quickly by a series of releases that year, including Santalla, Taraq, Akelarre, Hombre de Palo, Babieca and Nuevalos. Each launch was accompanied by a modest press run, reinforcing the house’s commitment to scarcity and artistic integrity. In 2024 the brand expanded its palette with Bucaro Royal, a nod to historic Spanish equestrian culture, and in 2025 it introduced Torreja Sacra and Laban Arruz, both of which explore sacred and mythic themes drawn from Iberian folklore. Throughout its short history, nBitor has maintained a low‑profile distribution model, favouring direct‑to‑consumer sales through its website and curated boutique partners. The house’s evolution reflects a deliberate pacing: new scents appear roughly once per season, allowing time for ingredient sourcing, formulation and the careful design of each presentation. While the exact founding year is not disclosed in public records, the chronology of releases suggests the label began operations in 2022 or early 2023. The brand’s name, pronounced /n['bi tor], appears on its Instagram profile, where the visual identity emphasizes clean typography and a muted colour palette, reinforcing the minimalist ethos that underpins its creative output. nBitor’s creative vision centres on the belief that fragrance should act as a quiet narrative rather than a loud statement. In the BcnCoolHunter interview, Thomas explained that the house seeks to translate personal memory and place into scent, using ingredients that evoke specific landscapes or cultural moments. The brand values transparency in ingredient provenance, favouring suppliers who can demonstrate sustainable harvesting practices, especially for natural extracts such as Spanish rosemary, Andalusian orange blossom and wild thyme. At the same time, nBitor embraces synthetic aromachemicals when they allow a more precise articulation of a concept, a stance that reflects a modern, balanced approach to perfumery. The label’s philosophy also includes a respect for the collector’s experience: limited production runs, numbered editions and detailed scent dossiers accompany each launch, encouraging users to engage intellectually with the fragrance. Ethical considerations extend to packaging, where recycled glass and aluminium caps are standard, aligning the aesthetic of restraint with an environmental conscience. Overall, nBitor positions itself as a laboratory for scent stories, where each perfume is treated as a chapter in a larger, evolving manuscript.
