Why it exists.
The beginning
Snow White Leather arrived in 2024 as part of Maybach's entry into fine fragrance, a move that translates the German marque's automotive heritage into something you wear instead of sit on. Anne Flipo composed the scent, and the result captures a particular olfactory moment: the feeling of fine leather before anyone has touched it. Pristine, untouched, carrying the cool smoothness of material in its original state. The composition leans into restraint, offering leather as an idea rather than a costume, an impression of newness that avoids the smoky, workshop-bound territory most leather fragrances default to. What you smell is the material at its starting point, clean and considered, with nothing added to make it feel lived-in.
The composition runs on an unusual trio. Saffiano leather becomes an actual olfactory reference point, translated from a tactile finish into something the nose can read. Rum adds warmth without tipping into sweetness, offering a soft undercurrent that keeps the composition approachable. Patchouli grounds the whole thing in something earthy enough to keep the leather from floating away. The interaction between these three materials creates a structure that feels deliberate and architectural, each note doing specific work to support the others.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are almost entirely patchouli, raw and slightly bitter in a way that reads as confidence rather than aggression. It doesn't announce itself, it just shows up. By the thirty-minute mark, rum arrives underneath, bringing a soft molasses warmth that catches the leather as it begins to register. The two meet in the middle. Hours three through five settle into the Saffiano's cool grain, still present but quieter now, like leather that's been quietly doing its job. The texture shifts from the bitter green of the opening into something smoother, almost mineral in its coolness, while the rum continues to thread warmth beneath the surface. On fabric the next morning, what remains is a pale shadow of patchouli and warm skin.
