Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story of Mallo begins with Antonio Lasheras, a Spanish perfumer who spent years experimenting with native herbs, resins and woods in his family’s workshop in Zaragoza, the capital of Aragón. In early 2021 Lasheras launched Sez, a unisex pure parfum that quickly attracted attention for its clear, unadulterated expression of scent. Distribution began worldwide in April 2021, marking the first public step for the brand. Over the next two years Lasheras expanded the line, introducing WAM and ARC in 2023, followed by SOD and REA in 2024. 2025 saw a burst of new creations, including ORA, ARA(GON), VAR and CHI, each exploring a different facet of natural material. Throughout this period the house remained independent, sourcing raw ingredients directly from Spanish farms and Mediterranean suppliers. The brand’s growth has been steady rather than explosive, reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship over mass production. While Mallo does not publish sales figures, its presence in niche fragrance boutiques across Europe and North America indicates a growing appreciation among connoisseurs who value authenticity and locality. Mallo’s creative vision rests on the belief that natural ingredients can be articulated with the same precision as synthetics, provided the maker respects their intrinsic character. Lasheras often speaks of listening to the raw material, allowing its aroma to dictate structure rather than imposing a preconceived formula. The brand emphasizes transparency: each fragrance lists its primary botanical sources, and the sourcing locations are disclosed whenever possible. Sustainability is woven into the process; the house prefers ingredients harvested using low‑impact methods and works with growers who practice crop rotation and organic fertilisation. Mallo also seeks to revive forgotten Spanish scent traditions, such as the use of pine resin from the Pyrenees or wild rosemary from the Aragonese plains, integrating them into modern olfactory narratives. This approach positions the house as a bridge between heritage and contemporary perfumery, offering scents that feel both rooted and forward‑looking.
