Cade oil is the differentiator. Extracted from Mediterranean juniper branches through pyrolysis, it carries a smoky, almost medicinal quality that most Western noses encounter rarely. Here it becomes the heart, not a supporting player but the reason the scent shifts from pleasant to memorable. Cypress anchors the base with its dry, woody character, the smell of bark and needle that lingers like charcoal long after a fire has burned down. Three notes. That sparseness is the point: nothing extra, nothing wasted, every material pulling weight.

The evolution

The Trail opens loud. Smoke and incense hit immediately, filling space in a way that demands you acknowledge them. That projection holds for the first two hours, the cade oil introducing its herby, tar-like quality as the frankincense settles. Some find this phase polarizing. Others find it essential. By hour three, the composition shifts into something quieter but no less present. The cypress finally announces itself, dry, woody, the last embers of a campfire refusing to fully die. On most skin, this drydown lasts another 5-7 hours. On fabric, it can carry into the next day.
