The beginning
Wildness comes from Weston Adam's debut lineup at Logoi Perfumes, a conceptual house that launched in 2026. The brand treats fragrance as an idea, and its opening releases include Form, Beginning, Ground, and Clearing among them, each pointing toward a distinct conceptual territory. Wildness is the animalic one, built around the raw materials of classical leather perfumery: castoreum, civet, deer musk, hyraceum, ambergris. The fragrance reads as a deliberate statement of intent, an attempt to engage with what animalic scent actually smells like when nothing is smoothed away for easier consumption. Adam has built Logoi around an emphasis on raw material quality, and Wildness stands as the most uncompromising expression of that approach in the debut range.
The material list here is almost a roll call of perfumery's most uncompromising naturals. Hyraceum absolute brings a dry, mineral warmth to the composition, grounding the sharper animalic notes with something that reads almost geological. Castoreum absolute contributes the leathery depth that anchors the base, lending the structure its sense of weight and age. Civet tincture adds a sharp, almost indolic edge, the kind of note that modern perfumery often dilutes or replaces, but here sits front and center in its full, unapologetic form.
The evolution
The first hour is the hardest. Civet and castoreum land first, sharp and almost confrontational, with the smoky char of choya underneath like ash on wet stone. It's not pleasant in the conventional sense, but it's arrestingly specific. Around the two-hour mark, the edges soften as ambrette seed and ambergris take over, introducing a skin-like warmth that bridges the animalic notes into something more wearable. The hyraceum deepens the drydown into something mineral and ancient, a scent that feels older than the bottle it's in. By hour four, what remains is a close-skin warmth: smoked leather, ambergris, and the faint ghost of musk. On fabric, particularly wool, Wildness can linger past the next morning as a quiet, smoky trace.
