The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Aqua Solis translates as water of the sun, a fitting name for a fragrance that captures the sun-soaked garden of the Convent's Fruit Trees. The perfumer, Philippe Romano, designed this 2019 release with deliberate simplicity: citrus, herbs, warm spices. Nothing fights for attention. The ingredients breathe.
Mandarin and cardamom anchor the opening. Rosemary threads through the heart. Vetiver and musk form the base. The structure is monastic in its restraint, each material allowed to speak without interference. It's the kind of composition that rewards close attention rather than announcing itself from across the room.
The evolution
The opening is bright and immediate. Mandarin orange and cardamom arrive together, citrus sweetness, warm resinous spice. Not subtle. This is the moment sunlight first touches your face in the morning, that first contact before your eyes adjust. Within minutes, rosemary takes over. Herbal, clear, a pivot from pure sensation to something more contemplative. The heart lasts a couple of hours as the composition settles. By the drydown, the citrus and spice have faded to memory. Vetiver's dry woodiness remains, softened by musk. The warmth sits close to the skin, intimate, present, the scent of an afternoon spent in a sun-drenched garden, the last warmth before evening.
Cultural impact
Aqua Solis earned strong marks from the community, particularly on value and scent quality. Wearers describe it as a clean, aromatic fragrance that stands apart from more conventional citrus choices. The moderate sillage suits professional and intimate settings where presence without announcement serves the wearer well.
