The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lattafa's Niche Emarati collection draws from Arabian perfumery traditions and brings them into contemporary fragrance design. These are scents made for the wearer who values Middle Eastern craftsmanship and quality. Remas fits comfortably in this lineage, a 2023 addition that pairs tropical fruits with traditional Arabian warmth. The composition opens with mango, its sweet and slightly tart character immediately present, while jasmine adds floral depth and white amber provides a soft, enveloping quality. These materials don't simply occupy the same space. They interact, with the mango providing brightness that the jasmine and white amber carry forward throughout the wear.
Remas pairs tropical sweetness with deeper, warmer elements. The bright juiciness of mango anchors the opening, while white amber and frankincense provide a resinous, warm foundation. Jasmine and sandalwood bridge the gap between the unexpected and the familiar, with jasmine offering floral softness and sandalwood contributing creamy, woody depth. The result is a fragrance that holds together despite the contrast between tropical sweetness and Arabian warmth. The composition maintains balance throughout, with each material supporting the others rather than competing for attention.
The evolution
The opening arrives with notable brightness. Mango comes through as bright and tart, supported by bergamot and orange in a citrus combination that makes an immediate impression. It's the kind of entrance that announces itself with confidence. The transition follows as sandalwood and jasmine arrive, the jasmine softening the wood's natural creaminess while the sandalwood gives the florals structure and weight. The brightness from the opening doesn't disappear but deepens, becoming something warmer and more deliberate. As the fragrance develops, the base notes come forward. White amber and vanilla create a warm, enveloping presence. Frankincense sits quietly beneath, lending a faint resinous edge that keeps the sweetness grounded. The drydown becomes skin-close and intimate, a lingering warmth rather than a whisper.
Cultural impact
Mango in a Lattafa composition represents a departure from convention. The house built its identity on oud, amber, and musk traditions from the Arabian Peninsula, establishing a recognizable aesthetic across its catalog. Remas takes a different approach, incorporating tropical sweetness and placing it within that familiar warm framework. The result feels both unexpected and natural. Mango brings a bright, fruity character that contrasts with the deeper, resinous notes that typically define Arabian fragrances. Combined with jasmine and sandalwood, the composition achieves a balance between tropical freshness and traditional warmth.
