Marie Salamagne built this around a single object: a ceramic soap dish that sparked the memory of classic soap bars. Rather than chasing novelty, she reached for something older and more universal. The 2024 release lives in the Scented Mementos collection, which is exactly what it sounds like: fragrances that remember things worth remembering.
What makes Musk Memento work is the tension between aldehydic brightness and musky warmth. Aldehydes open clean, almost crystalline, the kind of clean that makes you stand taller. But ambrette seed keeps it from going clinical. Ambrette brings a faint animal warmth, a nuttiness that sits just beneath the aldehydes like a secret.
