Heritage
A house, in its own words
Jasper Alexander Thirlby Conran was born on 12 December 1959 in Britain. He established himself as a fashion designer working on collections for men, women, and the home before entering the fragrance industry. In 2003, he launched his first two fragrances simultaneously: Jasper Conran Him for men and Jasper Conran Her for women. This dual launch strategy introduced his aesthetic to both fragrance markets from the outset. February 2005 marked another milestone when Conran opened his flagship store, creating a unified retail environment for his broader design offerings alongside the fragrance collection. The perfume line continued to develop over subsequent years with gender-specific releases including Mister (2007), the Nightshade pair (2014), Blush and Blue (2015), Nude (2016), and Naked (2017). Jasper Conran Perfumes Limited remains registered as a company entity, providing the formal business structure for these products. The brand has maintained its presence in the accessible luxury fragrance segment while drawing from Conran's established reputation in British fashion.
Jasper Conran approaches fragrance as an extension of his broader design philosophy. His 2019 collection reportedly drew inspiration from nature, incorporating sustainably sourced ingredients according to available sources. The gender-specific naming conventions of releases like Him, Her, Nightshade Woman, and Nightshade Man suggest a clear differentiation strategy, while later releases like Naked, Nude, and Blush employ more abstract terminology. This progression indicates an evolution from straightforward gender labeling toward conceptual fragrance concepts. The brand maintains an accessible positioning within the market, offering consumers an entry point connected to the designer's broader aesthetic without the premium pricing structures associated with high-end niche perfumery. Conran's fragrance philosophy appears rooted in translating his fashion sensibility into olfactory form, making wearable scents that reflect his design identity.
