The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
My Ju-Ju arrived in 2021 from Nathalie Feisthauer. The composition sits at the center of an idea Feisthauer built around the interplay of innocence and warmth. Bergamot and cardamom lift the opening into something free-spirited, almost childlike, before vanilla arrives early, peeking through the brightness like a keepsake tucked into a pocket. The whole thing is less an exercise in exoticism and more a study in comfort that earns its warmth rather than borrowing it from sugar alone. From the first breath onward, the fragrance behaves like a small ceremony, one you choose to carry close.
What makes My Ju-Ju interesting is how Feisthauer threaded the gourmand elements through a structure that refuses to collapse into pure sweetness. The coffee note sits close enough to the surface to register as an accent rather than a base. Tonka and amber do the heavy lifting in the drydown, but they share space with vetiver and cedarwood, materials that anchor the composition to something earthier and more grown-up. The floral heart, jasmine and lily of the valley, gives the whole thing a transparency it might otherwise lack. It is a gourmand built like a floral.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the lift. Bergamot and cardamom catch the air first, with a transparent jasmine and lily of the valley threading through like light through gauze. Pink pepper warms the edges without announcing itself. Then the shift: vanilla surfaces earlier than expected, soft and round, and the composition starts pulling inward. Soon after, the coffee note shows up, not as a bitter jolt but as a roasted sweetness that deepens the vanilla into something resembling toasted meringue. The heart holds while tonka and amber settle into a creamy, almost edible warmth, and the florals recede into the texture rather than disappearing entirely. Eventually the wood takes over. Cedar and vetiver dry the composition out just enough to keep it from cloying, and the musk underneath holds a quiet skin-scent close to the body.
Cultural impact
My Ju-Ju sits comfortably in the company of gourmands that take themselves seriously. It appeals to wearers who want something sweet without sacrificing structure, and who have learned to read a composition rather than just smell the first few minutes of the opening. My Ju-Ju rewards patience on skin in a way that emphasizes the importance of giving a fragrance time to unfold fully. The construction invites a slower read, one that unfolds across hours rather than moments, and encourages wearers to return to it on different days and in different contexts.
