The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ultra arrived in 2024 as part of Fine'ry's men's expansion, with a clear directive: make something immediate. Not a slow build, not a mystery. Something that announces itself and means it. Bergamot for brightness, black pepper for character, pineapple for the note that makes you do a double-take. The citrus opens clean and sharp, the kind of presence that cuts through without apology. Black pepper arrives with dry, warm intensity, a spice that adds depth without overwhelming. Pineapple pulls focus with its tropical sweetness, unexpected in this context, the ingredient that makes the whole composition feel alive and a little bit unpredictable. Three ingredients, one clear idea. Each one doing exactly what it needs to do.
The pineapple-black pepper pairing is what makes Ultra interesting. Pineapple is sweet, tropical, almost gourmand, a note that can tip masculine fragrance into something softer than intended. Black pepper is savory, almost smoky. Together they create a tension that keeps the scent from settling into safe. It's not trying to be complex. It's trying to be exact. That specificity, the right amount of sweet, the right amount of spice, is harder to get right than a crowded note list, and it is what makes Ultra distinctive.
The evolution
The opening is bergamot and clean. Sharp, bright, efficient. It sits clean on the skin, the kind of presence that announces itself before you have finished spraying. Then the pineapple surfaces, not gradually, it just appears, sweet and present alongside the citrus. The black pepper joins within the hour, and for the next two to three hours these three notes argue without resolving. Pineapple wants warmth. Pepper wants sharpness. Bergamot keeps the peace. By hour four the citrus is gone, the pineapple has softened, and only the black pepper remains, warm, quiet, close to the skin. Over the next several hours the pepper lingers subtly, projecting less but refusing to disappear completely, a dry warmth that stays close and present until it fades entirely.
Cultural impact
Ultra represents an expansion into fresh-spicy masculine territory for a brand that made its debut in 2023. The approach centers on single, immediately recognizable ideas rather than layered complexity. Ultra takes the bright, spicy combination of bergamot, black pepper, and pineapple and lets each note assert itself fully. The scent opens crisp and citrus-forward, shifts into a tropical-spicy middle ground where pineapple and pepper engage in deliberate tension, then settles into a warm, dry pepper base that lingers close to the skin.
