A house, in its own words
Enrico Buccella comes from Umbria, the central Italian region often associated with quieter, more contemplative expressions of Italian craft. His earliest documented perfumery work appears under the brand name Sigilli, compositions he created roughly a decade before his name became the label itself. One of the earliest confirmed credits is Alambar for Laboratorio Olfattivo in 2010, placing him in the Italian niche scene during a period when independent houses were reshaping how Italian fragrance was discussed outside the major luxury groups. He later composed The Lovers Tale for Francesca Bianchi, embedding him within a tightly networked community of independent Italian perfumers who share distribution channels and critical attention. Around 2022, Buccella began releasing fragrances under his own name, formalizing a personal catalog that had been incubating for years. The first documented launches under the Enrico Buccella label include compositions from 2022, followed by a steady cadence of new releases through 2024 and a sharp expansion in 2025, when nine new fragrances appeared. A 2026 launch, US Since 1986, has also been listed, suggesting the house continues to build rather than rest on its early catalog. Buccella's creative vision centers on fragrance as a conduit to specific places, eras, and emotional states. Compositions carry titles, Kyprus, Médiéval, Shikoku, Caipirinha, that function less as abstract names and more as coordinates, pinning each scent to a geography or a moment. Reviewers consistently note that his work leans on dense base structures and high concentration, producing what one niche source describes as extreme persistence through generous use of raw materials. Rather than pursuing novelty for its own sake, Buccella appears to treat perfumery as an act of preservation: reconstructing lost textures, historical atmospheres, or private memories. The fragrance US Since 1986, for example, is reportedly tied to a personal narrative involving his late wife, a detail that situates the work within an autobiographical framework. This pairing of personal archive and cultural reference, Italian regional identity alongside far-flung evocations of Japan, the Mediterranean, and the Middle Ages, defines the house's intellectual posture.
