The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Be Delicious Latte collection arrived in 2026 as DKNY's answer to the vanilla moment that never really ended. Three flankers, Matcha, Pistachio, and this one, Latte Vanilla, each built around the idea that a latte is both a drink and a feeling. Warm. Comforting. The kind of ritual that makes a morning feel like a morning. Perfumer Adriana Medina-Baez approached the brief by going literal: vanilla gelato as the opening accord, not as a metaphor. Cool, almost edible. Then she gave it something to push against, a whisper of pink pepper so the sweetness couldn't just float away.
What makes this composition interesting is the structural choice to layer vanilla at every level of the pyramid. Top, heart, and base all carry vanilla in some form, ice cream, orchid, absolute. The risk is obvious: a fragrance that collapses into a single note, sweet and undifferentiated. The pink pepper opening is the counterweight. It arrives quickly, gives the vanilla something to argue with, and then softens as the floral heart develops. Without that contrast, this would be another sweet skin-scent. With it, there's a conversation happening, warm and cool, soft and sharp, synthetic and natural. The solar amber in the base does quiet work, adding warmth without weight.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, cool vanilla gelato with a brief pink pepper spark that clears the air. Thirty minutes in, the florals arrive, but they're not loud. Vanilla orchid reads more as warmth than as a distinct floral note. The sweetness doesn't disappear, but it deepens. By the second hour, you're in the drydown: musk, vanilla, and amber doing quiet work close to the skin. The sillage is moderate, present for those nearby, not announcing itself across a room. On most skin types, expect 6-8 hours before the vanilla fades to a skin-warm memory. The musk is what lingers longest.
Cultural impact
The 2026 Be Delicious Latte collection slots into a vanilla fragrance moment that has shown no signs of cooling. What distinguishes this from higher-concept niche vanillas is its approachability, it's not making an argument, it's making a comfort. DKNY's New York positioning gives it an urban ease that reads as everyday confidence rather than occasion dressing. The moderate sillage suits a contemporary wearer's instinct: present without projecting, personal without performing.
