The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Three Magi comes from Bri Beyer's Silent Night Collection, a suite of story-driven fragrances from Damask Haus, the perfumer's indie house. The name nods to the biblical gifts carried across the desert, and the composition treats that journey as a literal aromatic map. Frankincense leads the procession, followed by Palo Santo and sandalwood, sacred materials meeting on a single wrist. The Silent Night Collection gathered several of these narrative releases from Damask Haus's early catalogue, and Three Magi sits as its most overtly devotional piece. The fragrance carries the patience of something composed slowly, its architecture built around the interplay between bright resin and deep wood rather than around any single dominant accord.
What makes Three Magi unusual is the weight it places on florals within a composition otherwise built from resins and woods. Tuberose rarely shares space with labdanum and opoponax outside the most extreme oriental builds, yet here it anchors the heart without tipping into indolic territory. The white floral quality lifts the incense rather than fighting it, giving the heart a creamy dimension that keeps the composition from collapsing into pure resin.
The evolution
Three Magi opens with frankincense and Palo Santo rising together like the first draft through a church doorway, sharp and clean, carrying that distinctive bright-resinous tension. The frankincense arrives with an almost mentholated edge, its cool brightness filling the space quickly, while the Palo Santo settles in just beneath, bringing a warmer, woodier sweetness that balances the initial blast of incense. The heart unfolds gradually as tuberose emerges beneath the incense, unexpected and almost narcotic against the woody architecture, while labdanum and opoponax begin binding everything with a dark amber undertone. The white floral opens slowly, its creaminess absorbing the incense until the heart reads as warm and hazy rather than sharp.
Cultural impact
Three Magi sits within the niche fragrance conversation as a resinous, devotional composition that draws on sacred and ceremonial traditions without tipping into costume or pastiche. The fragrance carries the sensibility of a house that treats scent as storytelling rather than product, and its placement within the Silent Night Collection locates it among intentional, themed releases from Damask Haus's catalogue. Rather than positioning itself as a year-round commercial offering, Three Magi reads as a deliberate seasonal piece, one composed for a specific atmosphere and a specific kind of attention.
