The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Caroline Dumur designed Chloe Nomade Jasmin Naturel around the proposition of jasmine as a central element. Egyptian jasmine absolute takes front and center, harvested under responsible practices. Bergamot opens sharp, almost astringent, then a smooth date accord softens everything into something unexpected. Dumur worked within Chloe's broader Nomade universe, creating a fragrance where natural-origin ingredients coexist with complexity. Jasmine from Egypt anchors the composition. Dates, not a typical perfumery note, bridge the floral and the edible. Vanilla and sandalwood ground the whole thing in warmth, with sandalwood lending a creamy, almost milky quality that keeps the base from becoming heavy.
The date accord is what makes this composition unusual. Dates carry a specific caramelized quality that adds texture to the jasmine heart, softening what could be a straightforward white floral into something with more dimension. The jasmine itself is Egyptian absolute, lending density and richness to the floral heart. Sandalwood plays a supporting role, creamy and almost milky, rather than dominating. Vanilla adds warmth without heaviness. The result is a fragrance that feels generous without being loud, with each note contributing to an integrated whole rather than competing for attention.
The evolution
The bergamot opens bright and citrus-forward, almost astringent against the skin. Thirty minutes in, the jasmine arrives dense and heady, the Egyptian absolute doing its work. Then the date accord emerges, threading sticky-sweet fruitiness through the floral heart. By the second hour, jasmine and dates have merged into something inseparable. The vanilla and sandalwood take over around hour three, creating a warm, close base that lingers. What remains is skin-close warmth, vanilla and sandalwood, with jasmine surfacing in traces. The composition never fully dissolves. It holds together, each phase giving way to the next without sharp transitions. The jasmine remains present throughout, weaving in and out of the dry down in subtle traces that add depth to the warm base.
Cultural impact
Nomade Jasmin Naturel presents natural ingredients as an aesthetic choice that reflects a specific identity. Jasmine from Egypt, dates as an unexpected bridge note, vanilla and sandalwood that feel warm without being heavy. The fragrance invites rather than demands attention. It appeals to someone who appreciates nuance over impact, choosing a scent that registers up close rather than filling a room.
