Why it exists.
The beginning
Scorpio by Auroradon arrived in 2025 as part of the Astrologique collection, a zodiac-coded lineup that turns each sign into a composition. There's no mountain, no childhood memory, and no perfumer interview attached to it. The concept is the character: what does Scorpio smell like when it walks into a room it already owns? The fragrance answers through contrast, opening with cool iris and aromatic saffron before revealing a dry structure of oud, vetiver, cedar, and frankincense. Resins and earthy textures add weight, while restrained sweetness and mineral facets preserve a sense of control. As Scorpio wears on, the brighter opening softens and the woods, incense, amber, and musk settle into a warmer, more intimate expression.
The note list reads like a locked door, iris at the front giving that cool, powdery, almost cold distance, saffron crackling underneath like a match struck in the dark. The heart is where the house commits: black cedar, oud, and sandalwood stacked together, three woods doing the work of a confession. Oud brings the resinous gravity, cedar the dry backbone, sandalwood the skin-close warmth that keeps the whole thing from floating away into something merely smoky.
The evolution
Right out of the bottle, saffron and iris do a short standoff. The saffron is sharp, almost metallic, threading through iris's cold violet dust. Within ten minutes the wood arrives, and it doesn't ask permission. Black cedar lays down a dry, charcoal-edged foundation, oud drops its resinous weight on top, and sandalwood smooths the whole collision into something almost edible, like burnt sugar wrapped in velvet. The opening reads cold and deliberate. By the second hour, that's gone. The composition warms, the iris recedes, and the woods settle into something denser, quieter, almost meditative. At hour four, the saffron has vanished entirely. What's left is oud and sandalwood in conversation, with a faint cedar spine holding them upright. The drydown introduces ambergris and white musk, which arrive not as a new chapter but as a slow exhale. The ambergris gives the whole thing a salt-warm, skin-like quality, and the white musk keeps it floating just above the surface.
