The beginning
Taifie is a single-minded gesture: one flower, held up to the light. The name itself is the fragrance, a direct nod to the Taif rose, that particular variety whose name carries enough romance and pedigree to anchor an entire composition. Al-Jazeera Perfumes, the Qatari house, released this composition in 2022 as part of its Luxury Collection. There was no attempt to frame the rose against woods, spices, or amber. Instead, three roses layer together across the wear, each contributing something distinct: Taif Rose at the center, supported by Moroccan Rose and Turkish Rose, to show what happens when a flower gets to be the whole conversation.
Most rose fragrances build the flower against a stage of oud, musk, or spice, using the rose as a top note that recedes within the hour. Taifie takes the opposite approach. Taif rose is the base, the heart, and the final whisper on skin. The additional rose notes, Moroccan and Turkish, widen the conversation, bringing their own textures into dialogue with the Taif rather than letting any single expression dominate. Together they create a rose that reads as continuous and complete, the kind of composition where the flower feels lived-in rather than decorative.

The next morning, what remains is a sheer, musky rose-water ghost that clings to fabric and skin. Longevity lands above average for the category, with the rose refusing to vanish entirely even after a full day's wear, leaving behind something that whispers rather than announces itself on the second morning.

Taifie sits in a specific tradition of Middle Eastern rose perfumery that treats Taif rose as a cultural artifact as much as an ingredient. The Taif rose itself carries considerable significance in the region, tied to harvest seasons and local identity in a way that elevates it beyond a simple raw material. By naming the fragrance after the flower and building the composition around three rose expressions rather than a more conventional oud-rose structure, the release participates in that tradition while reframing it for a different kind of wearer.
