The Story
Why it exists.
Étoile d’une Nuit was conceived in 2019 by Mathieu Nardin together with Camille Goutal, the daughter who now steers the house. The title, “Star of a Night,” captures a fleeting moment the brand often writes about, a single sparkle that lingers after dusk. Drawing on Goutal’s love for powdery memories, the perfumers blended fresh Italian bergamot and mandarin with ripe blackberry to create a bright opening, then layered iris, rose and Egyptian jasmine to echo a soft, illuminated garden. The base of musk, vanilla and cash‑mere wood grounds the composition, turning that brief sparkle into a lingering, comforting glow.

The Beginning
The juxtaposition of blackberry’s dark fruitiness with citrus’s crispness gives the opening a playful tension, while the iris‑rose‑jasmine heart supplies a powdery, almost tactile veil that feels like freshly brushed makeup. Cash‑mere wood adds a whisper of warmth without heaviness, allowing the vanilla‑musk base to settle like a soft sigh rather than a cloying sweetness. This balance lets the fragrance shift from vibrant to intimate without losing its luminous core.
The Evolution
The first ten minutes are dominated by the juicy burst of blackberry, instantly brightened by Italian bergamot and mandarin that sparkle like city lights. As the citrus fades, the fruit settles into a velvety veil where iris takes the lead, its powdery edge softened by rose’s tender petals and the exotic lift of Egyptian jasmine. Around the half‑hour mark the heart deepens; the iris becomes more dry, the rose gains a faint honeyed nuance, and the jasmine adds a luminous shimmer. By the time the dry‑down arrives, the base notes emerge: musk provides a clean, animalic whisper, vanilla introduces a creamy sweetness, and cash‑mere wood wraps everything in a soft, warm embrace that lingers on the skin for six to eight hours, leaving a faint, powder‑kissed trail that feels like a night‑time sigh.
Cultural Impact
Since its 2019 debut, Étoile d’une Nuit has become a staple of the Les Parfums de Géraldine line, celebrated for its powdery‑sweet elegance. Wearers often note its ability to turn a simple evening into a subtle statement, making it a go‑to for refined gatherings and quiet confidence.
