Why it exists.
The beginning
Sky Dweller emerged from VIVE's 2024 Multiverse of Habitat series, a line that imagines scents as places in the sky. Perfumer Nantapat Dejsidchanaporn set out to capture the feeling of standing on a high plateau where the air is thin and bright. Drawing on the house's habit of field research, she spent weeks studying how scent behaves at elevation, where floral sweetness dissipates and only the most stable molecules survive. The result is a fragrance built from notes that hold their shape in rarefied air, refusing to bloom or soften under pressure.
Nantapat chose Aldehydes and Ambroxan not for their novelty but for their stability. In Thai perfumery, where humidity and heat can dismantle a fragrance within minutes, these molecules offer structural resilience. Green Apple provides the initial shock of recognition, a familiar fruit given an unfamiliar context. The Musk is deliberately understated, never animalic, always clean. Tog ether, the notes form a scent that behaves like its name suggests: it stays aloft.
The evolution
The arc is deliberate. Sky Dweller begins with Green Apple and Aldehydes arriving simultaneously, a double punch of crispness that announces itself without apology. There is no top note prelude, no softening intro. Within minutes, Musk enters to thread warmth through the brightness, while Ambroxan grounds the composition in a mineral, slightly saline depth that evokes altitude rather than ocean. As the hours pass, the Green Apple recedes first, leaving Aldehydes and Musk to carry the scent into its final hours. The Ambroxan lingers longest, a faint reminder of the open sky that gave the fragrance its name.
