The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Dua Brand launched in 2022 from a very specific brief: rewrite Clive Christian's Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic for a wider audience. The original sits in the Addictive Arts collection, Clive Christian's line of extraits. Jump & Kiss is The Dua Brand's interpretation, an inspired expression in their own catalog. The composition shares its core architecture with the source material: a warm amber foundation, a leathery grip that pulls the whole thing into darker territory, and the kind of late-night energy that feels less like a fragrance and more like a mood. The labdanum glows from the first spray, sticky and golden, pulling sweetness from the resin rather than from any obvious gourmand addition.
The composition is almost defiantly simple. Three notes, all variations on a theme. Labdanum brings the sticky, golden warmth, the resinous depth that reads as both sweet and animalic. Leather arrives next, dark and structured, a material note rather than a floral one. Amber holds the architecture together. That simplicity is the point. The labdanum does the heavy lifting as both the base and the heart. The leather is less an accent and more a second skin over the resin. Nothing competes. Nothing distracts.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are a handshake, not an introduction. Labdanum opens with a golden, almost treacle-like sweetness, warm and thick, the kind of resinous depth that immediately signals serious fragrance. The leather arrives underneath quickly, dark and slightly bitter, and the two lock together within fifteen minutes. By the thirty-minute mark, the composition has tightened. The initial sweetness pulls back, and what remains is a denser, more animalic warmth, less dessert and more second skin. The amber solidifies the base, giving the drydown a molten quality that clings to fabric. This phase carries for hours, four easily, six if your skin runs warm. On a coat collar the next morning, it reads quieter, softer, more intimate. The leather has mellowed into something almost suede-like. The labdanum lingers as a skin-warm sweetness, the kind of trace that makes someone lean closer. The DNA stays recognizable from spray to morning-after, which is exactly what an extrait of this density promises.
Cultural impact
Jump & Kiss enters the world as a translation, a way for a specific Clive Christian composition to reach noses that might never encounter the original. The reference point is clear: Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic, with its amber-leather architecture and its dense, animalic warmth. Jump & Kiss takes that blueprint and rebuilds it within The Dua Brand's catalog, keeping the core DNA intact while making the composition accessible through a different channel. The extrait concentration gives the scent presence.
