The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fashionable Personality is part of The Dua Brand's catalog of fragrances inspired by luxury perfume houses. This one draws from Henry Jacques, the French perfume house founded in 1975, a house that has catered to a high-end clientele with compositions previously only accessible to the wealthy. The Dua Brand took that world of rare florals and powdery sophistication and rebuilt it in extrait de parfum form, 30 ml. The name does what it says. Raspberry and violet open the door, iris and jasmine hold the room, and the base of amber, vanilla, and musk makes sure the whole thing lingers. It's an homage that wears its reference openly, built for someone who wants the high-end French floral feeling without the gatekeeping.
What makes this composition interesting is how it stacks powdery and sweet without tipping into either territory. Raspberry and violet do the bright, slightly tart opening work, the fruit bringing brightness while the violet brings that dusty, almost candied floral quality. Then iris arrives, and iris is the note that turns a floral perfume into something with texture. The iris here feels dry, cool, a little rooty, the kind of note that makes you think of expensive face powder or the inside of a vintage compact.
The evolution
The opening is where the fruit lives. Raspberry and violet lead the way, bright and a little jammy, the violet dusting the whole thing in cool powder. There's a green quality to the violet that adds freshness, keeping the raspberry from reading as pure candy. The first spray announces itself with confidence, all fruit and floral and that distinctive violet coolness. As the composition develops, the fruit steps back and the iris steps forward. That transition is the heart of the fragrance, the moment it goes from playful to sophisticated. The iris brings a dry, almost starchy quality, powdery without being dusty, luxurious without being heavy. Jasmine hums underneath, adding that warm, creamy, almost indolic sweetness that makes the iris feel alive. Rose weaves through the heart too, softening the iris's coolness and adding that classic floral romance.
Cultural impact
Fashionable Personality appeals to wearers who want that powdery, iris-heavy sophistication. The raspberry-violet opening gives it a playful sweetness that keeps the composition from feeling stuffy or old-fashioned, while the iris-jasmine-rose heart delivers the kind of layered, classic French floral structure that makes the scent feel substantial. It's a fragrance that works for someone who loves the texture of iris, the warmth of jasmine, the romance of rose, and the soft glow of an amber-musk-vanilla base.
