Why it exists.
The beginning
Tesso comes from the first collection STONEBORN released in 2025, part of the Engram line. Perfumer Thiago Vidotto, who also leads the house, composed the scent with a clear structural intent. The composition refuses the easy paths available to it. Where most fruity fragrances lean toward sweetness and most mineral fragrances lean toward coldness, Tesso avoids both and finds its own register. The apple reads with a crisp, almost austere character at the very first beat. Lava rock provides the structural spine. Amber holds everything together with warmth. The result feels less like a composed fragrance and more like a natural specimen: formed slowly, shaped by pressure, still carrying the imprint of what made it.
The unusual decision here is the lava rock note. Thiago Vidotto places it at the structural center, equal weight to the fruit. That changes everything about how the fragrance behaves on skin. Without the mineral anchor, the green apple would carry the entire opening alone, a familiar fruity lead. Without the amber, there would be no warm resolution at the base. With volcanic mineral threaded between them, you get a composition that resists easy classification. The woody-fruity-earthy-resinous accord profile confirms this isn't accidental.
The evolution
The opening arrives with surprising coldness. Green apple hits first, but it's not the bright candy sweetness of a typical fruit accord. There's a stony minerality riding underneath from the very first minute, a dry stoniness that immediately separates it from anything in the fresh fruit category. The sharpness peaks early, then amber begins its slow takeover. The composition shifts from crisp to warm without ever passing through a sweet middle ground. That's where lava rock earns its place. It prevents the transition from becoming syrupy, holding a mineral line through the warm middle phase that keeps everything grounded. The drydown stabilizes into something close to warm stone: amber-dominant, with a faint fruit memory still detectable if you press your nose close to skin.

Tesso arrived as part of STONEBORN's first wave, a debut collection that introduced the house to the niche perfumery conversation. The fragrance stakes a claim on minerality as a serious creative material, not just a finishing touch.
