The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Oraculum set out to give wearers a scent that speaks as directly as a personal statement, and Sensualist emerged in 2023 as that very declaration. Drawing on the house minimalist aesthetic, the perfumer chose bergamot and jasmine for an opening that announces itself without ceremony, then built inward from there. The combination signals intention right from the start.
Bergamot and jasmine form the foundation because they communicate something directly. Ambergris and vanilla follow because warmth amplifies intimacy. Musk at the end keeps the whole thing honest, never tipping into performance. The note progression is less about surprise and more about conviction.
The evolution
The opening carries bergamot and jasmine in equal measure, neither one waiting for the other to finish. The heart leans on ambergris and vanilla to add warmth and body, creating a stage where jasmine continues to linger without stealing focus. The drydown is musk, clean and close, the kind of base that makes someone lean in to catch it properly. Each phase flows into the next without dramatic contrast, just a steady deepening.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Sensualist has been noted in niche circles for striking a middle ground between crisp aromatics and sensual woods, earning it a reputation as a go‑to unisex scent for city dwellers who value subtle confidence. Wearers often cite its ability to transition from office to evening without losing its identity, placing it alongside Oraculum’s other gender‑fluid releases like Helenist and Krucifist.
